Our new and absolutely fantastic “Science. Art. Film.” program is now online!
We’re kicking off in March with one of the quirkiest and most mesmerising, super-rare-to-see gems of Australian cinema – Alex Proya’s “Spirits of the Air, Gremlins of the Clouds”. This one is truly special, so don’t miss it! We’ll be discussing it with a fashion scholar and an expert on deserts, an unusual and fascinating combo, as always. ![]()
Next up: blockbuster cinema! “Jurassic Park” will roar onto the screen, with a ‘Science, Technology and Society’ scholar on the panel, alongside an ever-enthusiastic academic and artist from the School of Music, who’ll get (us) delightfully carried away by the soundtrack – at the piano. Our third panelist is a true treat: a special guest who brings science shows to life. It will be a blast!
After that, we’ll dive into one of the most beautiful environmentally-themed animated films ever created, “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind”, exploring it with a scholar of East-Asian pop culture and a film scholar (and filmmaker!). And finally, we’ll journey into the world of aliens and Spielberg blockbuster cinema once more, with “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” – with a philosopher joining a film music expert and composer for another unmissable discussion.
