A roaring delight: Jurassic Park at the NFSA – SOLD OUT and spectacular!
Yesterday’s “Science. Art. Film.” night turned into one of the most joyful, insightful and wildly fun evenings we’ve had in the series. A completely full house, an audience brimming with curiosity and three phenomenal speakers who brought science, cinema, sound, humour and cultural imagination to life.
A huge, heartfelt thank you to Dr Dan Santos, Professor Ken Lampl and Joel Barcham – each of you lit up the stage in your own super fascinating and mindblowing way. From synthetic biology and gene technologies to the emotional architecture of John Williams’ score to the comedic and performative magic of re‑staging Jurassic Park moments, you made the film feel fresh and wonderfully alive again.
And of course, the incredible National Film and Sound Archive of Australia team! Your care, creativity and behind‑the‑scenes brilliance made everything seamless. From tech to front of house to the warm welcome our audience received – you are the reason these events feel so special. 🤩 This series explores how science lives within culture – how it is shaped by humour, storytelling, spectacle, sound and shared experience. Last night embodied that completely.
Thank you to everyone who came, laughed, gasped, asked sharp questions and filled the cinema with energy. 🦖✨ Science, cinema, wonder. What a combination.
