Radiant day! Today we had the incredible opportunity to introduce the Popsicule and our work on science in pop culture to Professor Henry Jenkins at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism – yes, that Henry Jenkins! His groundbreaking scholarship has fundamentally (re)shaped how we understand pop culture, participatory media and fan communities. To share what we’re building with someone whose work has influenced so much of this space was both a profound honour and an absolute delight! And… we have plans. Stay tuned.
I also stayed on for one of his online research group meetings – and of all the brilliant speakers they could have invited, they featured Professor Roald Maliangkay from ANU, an expert on K-pop… and someone we’ll soon be collaborating with for an upcoming “Science.Art.Film.” night. 🤓 🤩 🥳
