How does the animated cult film “Paprika” engage with cultural and ethical imaginaries surrounding science and technology – particularly in its portrayal of dream therapy, identity and reality – as it navigates the tension between real-world scientific ambition and the stylised, often exaggerated aesthetics of comic book narratives, animation and neurotech fantasies? 🤔

We discussed this and many other fascinating questions with our truly amazing “Science. Art. Film.” guest speakers – Crystal-Leigh Clitheroe, Dr Chitra V and Dr Lou Farrer – as well as a wonderfully engaged audience. The event was sold out, and the film was nothing short of spectacular! Huge thanks for an incredibly enriching experience, and special appreciation to the brilliant-as-always staff at the Arc Cinema/National Film and Sound Archive of Australia. 😎
Register now for our next and particularly colourful adventure “Army of Darkness”, 22 Oct, 6pm, Arc Cinema, book your tickets here (with Dr Graham Walker!)
